I Go Where You Go

I have a very protective mom. Not like in a helicopter parent kind of way but in the way that you only begin to appreciate as you become older. She still messages me on the regular to check to see if I've flossed my teeth and to forward me YouTube videos on WhatsApp on "40 Ways to Stay Healthy," "Detoxing the Liver" and "10 Health Benefits of Spirulina." By the way, whoever taught her how to forward things and send videos thank you... Even though sometimes as an independent grown adult it can be annoying to have your mom constantly message you on health tips I have no interest in I know that she does it because she genuinely cares about me. My mom is one of my biggest cheerleaders. Every single week, after she's been to church herself, she watches our church's video and let's me know how great my sermon was (every week without fail). I may get annoyed sometimes at how much she pesters me but I really do appreciate that she cares deeply for me. You can never have too many people that lift you up, encourage you and care about you on a personal level. And even though I haven't always, and may not always fully appreciate every comment and suggestion I wouldn't change a thing about it.

1 Because the Lord is my Shepherd,
I have everything I need!
2 He lets me rest in the meadow grass
and leads me beside the quiet streams.
3 He gives me new strength.
He helps me do what honors him the most.
4 Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid,
for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way.

Psalm 23:1-4 (TLB)

To me the care and love my mom extends to me is a perfect reflection of the care and love God has for me. We don't always appreciate God's advice, counsel or directions but regardless of how we feel it really is always in our best interest. The more I grow up the more I begin to appreciate what my mom does for me (in fact she literally just messaged me as I write this). The same is true with my relationship with God. As a kid it always felt like too much but the more I grow up, the more I pursue a personal and genuine relationship with God on my own the more I begin to see how much God's counsel and commandments are rooted in a deep love for each of us. No matter where we go, or what we choose to do God will always be there with us. God's love never lets up, runs out, or reaches its limits. Even if we choose to walk through the valleys God is there. Whatever we choose to pursue and wherever life takes us God goes with us. The road ahead may be difficult and full of challenges but you don’t need to be worried or afraid. No matter what may come, no matter where your journey takes you God goes where you go. Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid because the LORD your God will go with you wherever you go.

8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;
meditate on it day and night,
so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.
Then you will be prosperous and successful.
9 Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:8, 9 (NIV)

God help me to appreciate the love and care that you have for me. Help me to obey your law and your counsel knowing and trusting that your plans for me are always in my best interest. Give me love to appreciate the godly people that you place in my life to help steer and guide me. Thank you that you are a God that cares so deeply for us. AMEN
